Springtime is in full swing at Quinta do Tedo, even with a welcomed wetter-than-normal March in Douro Valley. Incoming reservations for tours and tastings, rooms in our Agroturismo (B &B) and for Bistro Terrace have kept us busy during this quieter time of the year, as we gear up for a very busy season. Not to worry, we remain small, personable, professional and passionate! Bistro Terrace reopens in April through mid-October. Lunch will offer generously-prepared gourmet Tedo Tapas, with stunning Tedo river and vineyard views – a perfect break while visiting Douro Valley during the day. At dinner a menu will be available as last year.
Our 55m / 165‘ deep cave’s construction, completed last year, awaits the crowning touch – 2 massive oak-paneled doors with a sunray glass transom for the 4.5m wide x 3.5m high / 15‘ wide x 11.5‘ high opening. Vincent’s brother Antonin, a Burgundian ebiniste, is in charge of this arduous project, a challenge to ensure the wooden doors will survive the intense sun and heat of the summer and cold of the winter. I look forward to the day when I will post photos of the completed project!
For those who celebrate Easter, Quinta do Tedo’s bounty will grace any table – our Douro DOCs with roast lamb or baked ham, our LBVs and Vintages with cheeses and chocolate desserts, our Tawnies with tarte tatin or a nut tart or our Ruby Finest Reserve with tossed berries and pavlova or tiramisu! The options are limitless! Here is to sharing a delicious meal with Quinta do Tedo together with family and friends.
Parabéns, Kay
